1st Band Meeting: I was missing
2nd Band Meeting: 4/5, Wednesday 2:00pm, Schulz Practice room, Katie, Daniel and Myself. We attempted to compose our group song.
Reflection 1: Overall, we are still trying to get to know each other as a band. We all clearly have very different styles when it comes to writing songs. Daniel writes very comfortably with non-diatonic chords, which can sometimes confuse the rest of us, as we sing. Katie comes up with melodies first, then lyrics. Taylor writes lyrics first, then composes her melody. I’m still trying to figure out the process that works best for me.
3rd Band Meeting: 11/5, Wednesday 2:00pm, Madley Practice room, Katie, Daniel, Taylor and Myself. We made further progress with our Group song.
4th Band Meeting: 18/5, Wednesday 2:00pm, Madley Practice room, Katie, Daniel, Taylor and Myself. We learnt Taylor’s song.
Reflection 2: We’ve made really good progress on our band song. I’m very happy with where it is in terms of everyone’s parts. We may need to work on harmonies, which I’ll leave to the other members to share the load evenly. Overall, Katie, Taylor and I contributed evenly to lyrics and melody while Daniel and I came up with the chords and the feel of the song. I helped come up with harmonies for Taylor’s song.
5th Band Meeting: 25/5, Wednesday 2:00pm, Madley practice room, Daniel, Taylor and Myself. We went through my and Katies songs.
6th Band Meeting: 1/6, Wednesday 2:00pm, Madley practice room, Katie, Daniel, Taylor and Myself. The new addition of Robbie, our drummer. We went through all the songs.
Reflection 3: We’ve now looked through all the songs of our band members. We’ve also got ourselves a drum player, which has helped significantly in the sound of our songs. We previously thought that we would not need drums, but we are all happy with how the songs sound now that we have the drums. We have finalised a solo section for the group song and worked out new chords for Katie’s song.
